IvyKids, join us for a very special Storytime in the Garden, which happens every Saturday at 2:30pm. On August 14, we'll be featuring two very special guests, Middle Grade Authors Nancy Krulik and Laura Shovan!
About the books: Ms. Frogbottom’s Field Trips are like the Magic School Bus series meets The Magic Tree House series. In the third installment of this popular chapter book series by bestselling author Nancy Krulik, Fangs for Having Us, Ms. Frogbottom’s class is on a field trip to Romania, where a visit to Dracula’s castle brings them face-to-fang with vampires, garlic, bats and—yikes!—could it be the legendary count himself?
A Place at the Table, a 2021 Sydney Taylor Notable book, is a timely, accessible, and beautifully written story exploring themes of food, friendship, family and what it means to belong, featuring sixth-graders Sara, a Pakistani American, and Elizabeth, a white, Jewish girl taking a South Asian cooking class taught by Sara’s mom. Laura cowrote the book with Saadia Faruqi.
Nancy Krulik is the New York Times bestselling author of more than 200 books for children and young adults, including the fan-favorite series Katie Kazoo, Switcheroo, and Princess Pulverizer. Nancy lives in New York. Connect with her at realnancykrulik.com.
Laura Shovan is the author of the award-winning middle grade novel-in-verse, The Last Fifth Grade of Emerson Elementary, and Takedown, a Junior Library Guild and PJ Our Way selection. A Place at the Table, co-written with Saadia Faruqi, is a 2021 Sydney Taylor Notable. Laura is a longtime poet-in-the-schools in Maryland. Connect with her at laurashovan.com.
