At the age of ten, Gnatee Doe was not your typical eighth grade student. Having skipped two grade levels and attending a gifted and talented school, he was exposed to a variety of ethnicities, talents and socioeconomic backgrounds. It was his first encounter his middle school crush, resulting in rejection, that sparked his passion for writing. Always taking notice of the world around him, he would soon utilize his new-found ability of writing, to create poems that expressed his innermost thoughts and emotions. What was birthed was a collection of poems, showcasing the perspective of a hopeless romantic 10-year-old, a newly independent 16-year-old college freshman, and a 20-year-old father and husband. Not having written a poem since his first few years out of college, at age 30 he found his book containing the rough drafts of 14 years of poetry. It was through this rediscovery, that he revitalized his passion for writing and followed his dream in completing this anthology. Take a walk through part of his life, with poems of love, anger, heartbreak, epiphany, family, and self-awakening.
